“The interesting thing about cloud computing is that we've redefined cloud computing to include everything that we already do. I can't think of anything that isn't cloud computing with all of these announcements. The computer industry is the only industry that is more fashion-driven than women's fashion. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I have no idea what anyone is talking about. What is it? It's complete gibberish. It's insane. When is this idiocy going to stop?”

Outage
Summary: Car Crash Triggers Amazon Power Outage
Amazon’s EC2 cloud suffered an outage for about an hour in the U.S. Eastern region after a utility pole was stuck by a vehicle. After the datacenter lost power the generators took over without a problem for all but one instance; where the switch failed to make the transaction to backup power. Amazon claims that the settings on the switch were not checked, but it will not happen again; while some customers question if perhaps there was more to it than that.
